The Heartspeak Collective
I am dedicated towards helping young people who have not had the love, support and experience I have had. I'm passionate about hands-on ways to help others willing to help themselves, whether it be through learning, un-tapping, identifying and nurturing their creativity and potential or expanding themselves and teaching them how to take advantage of others' networks.
Amanda Betts of Bridge the Gap Project Charitable Trust & The Hearstpeak Collective has created a sleuth of ways where we provide workshops, mentoring, events and fashion/art works to raise funds, light and awareness for charities, people and projects. I was so inspired about the work ethos and mission, I volunteered my services, knowledge and experience. As a graphic artist, I have been responsible for all branding for the Bridge The Gap Project.
We work extensively and intimately with young people from all walks of life with a focus predominantly on at-risk, vulnerable, ex/incarcerated young people and women on probation. We also work with care and protection, within the court system (restorative justice) as well as with youth justice/residences.
I'm proudly responsible for the creative art therapy aspect of the programme, expanding the young people in using a MAC Book Pro (something most have never had access to) as well as helping them create a bespoke Heart art piece they can call their own. We've used some of the artwork to turn them into greeting cards, so I also contribute to helping the young people in enterprise where they can sell their own art, makes gifts or submit the works to accompany and support apology letters (restorative justice).
